Detroit member Marie O’Connor is one of the artists involved in this years Stockholm Modevandring.
Her fashion walk is a journey into a drawing. An ancient sketch for a tattoo design made by a native of Easter Island is the starting point; a mysterious image, the relevance of which becomes both crucial and more distant with each step. A game of scale creates a progression of surface and form. From skin to paint to cloth to thread to layer.

Detroit olden goldie Nadien Byrne is also participating in the fashion walk. Byrne and a group of people who together go by the name Dream Family have created their own cosmos which is manifested trough rituals and costumes. During Fashionplay Dream Family will exhibit these costumes as they carry out a ritual in public, on the top of Tantoberget.

This year, Ominous Recordings presents ‘The Gay Pride Tape Series vol.1′, 2 split tapes with some of the most exciting artists of the Swedish music scene today.

The releaseparty is held at Galleri Detroit in Stockholm on July 30th, doors open at 19.00 and the entrance is free. Two acts from the split series will perform live and Ominous will be there with the entire catalogue and selected items from the distro.

Infernal Laugh Of a Furious Pony is a video installation in four chapters in which artists Hedda Viå and Josefin Arnell meets.

Dit-Cilinn and David Ohlsson’s collaborations are characterized by their similar frames of reference. The two artists take two polarized positions, where one of them stands for unbridled, cancerous creativity and the other for the targeted precision. These different angles make their individual approaches to the mutual focal points to an intuitive and organic process. Dit-Cilinn and David Ohlsson have worked with Circle of Daggers (14) in spring 2010 and the works are now being shown for the first time at Detroit.

Using the magic ritual as fertile ground for themes of will and self fulfillment, Circle of Daggers (14) echoes the adolescent’s longing for beauty and stardom as well as the artist’s strife towards the masterpiece. Crystallizing the intensity of this wish and its sexual overtones.
The handles, chrysalises in different stages of transformation, represent the will – control – the conscious direction of energy towards a goal. The blade is the arrow that the will follows from the individual out into the world.

Festen på Gärdet is reborn and will be held as an open air festival May 22:th! To support this great initiative we will host a support party this friday, 5-10.30 pm. bok förlag släpper r + n = m, 17 ark förpackade i en 30×40x3 cm stor ask i en limiterad utgåva om 300 exemplar.

Grevelius bok r + n = m rör sig i gränslandet mellan poesi och bild, textur och innehåll. Den är ett tyst samspel mellan ords betydelser och hur de ser ut. Tillsammans tecknar de 17 arken en grafisk världsbild. Arken är onumrerade och vi får själva pussla ihop ordningen.

Sofie Grevelius leker med gränserna mellan synen, tankarna och språket. Vi får följa med i hennes associationer, där skillnaden mellan att vela och veta ibland bara är ett streck. Orden i r + n = m blir porträtterade och meningarna blir till bilder som stannar kvar långt efter att vi stängt asken.

Sofie Grevelius är född 1981 och utbildad vid Central Saint Martins i London. För närvarande verksam i Stockholm. Under våren 2010 har hon ställt ut på Galleri Mors mössa i Göteborg och Galleri 5 I Lund. Bok förlag är ett nystartat bokförlag från Malmö som vänder ut och in på sättet att ge ut böcker.

Byrne shows objects as artifacts from another time. Together they evoke an eternal spirit of the past. A magical atmosphere of a secret room, an endless tunnel with no time. By collating and linking these objects she manages to create, conjure, a parallel dimension where memories never die, and the dead is resurrected.
Through different media such as sculpture, video and sound collages, Nadine Byrne is working with events from her life. Along with a great interest in the occult and various ways of the religious, she is trying to create new events and experiences, and understand the past ones.
