Born and raised in Ireland, Emer Ní Chíobháin, graduated from the Centre for Creative Arts & Media (GMIT) in 2010 with an Honours degree in design in textiles and an Ordinary degree in fine art and design. Since then, Ní Chíobháin and two others founded Sample-Studios, centre for contemporary arts, in Cork City, where she held the position of artistic director as well as sitting on the board of directors for nearly 5 years. She moved to Stockholm in 2015 where she is currently pursuing ongoing opportunities in her visual art practice as well as new avenues in critical writing projects. In her own visual arts practice her multi-disciplinary work mainly focuses in the fields of mixed media installation and lens based media. With a background in textiles, her work is predominantly sculpture and installation based. She has exhibited in New York (US), Sofia (BG), London (UK), as well as Galway, Laois, Dublin, Cork and most recently a major solo show at SOMA Contemporary Gallery in Waterford, Ireland.
